Freedom
Accepting isn't letting people live as I want or as I see fit but as they want. Going as far as to accept their lifestyle / thoughts up until it conforms to my norms or my set school of thought and not beyond that is quite hypocritical. Better, in some sense, would be rejecting others' lifestyles outright; at least there would be no pretense of acceptance.
Just as I have a right to live life my way so do others. However wrong or right it might seem to me.
That too without any need for reason on their part to explain to me or on my part to find any explanation. Acceptance is not because it makes sense but in spite of it. Because if there's a reason I am looking for, then once that reason stops making sense so will the acceptance.
Therein lies the beauty of real acceptance. In fact, in allowing others that freedom I am allowing myself to be free of my own prejudices and thoughts. There can be no peace of mind without that.
Freedom is true only when it sets other people free from me, me from them and more importantly me from me!
