An example of (1) might be Sachin Tendulkar.
An example of (2) might be Virender Sehwag.
Raw cricketing talent-wise Sachin is probably miles ahead of Sehwag but Sehwag has overall higher highs as a result of his “talent” of bypassing the mind [although he has lower lows as well as sometimes the mind is needed to get past a certain initial barrier]. Tendulkar might be consistently good but stratospheric highs are possible only when the mind can be bypassed as in Sehwag’s case [as 2 triple centuries might show].
The question even in success and with successful people is whether: Consistent triumphs/good’s are okay or are spectacular highs something one wants at the risk of going through stunning lows as well?
