Romanticism for the underdog
Why do ppl always want the underdog to win ? The underdog is the underdog for a reason, he is not the best at that point of time.
Why do we basically hate the champion and want the underdog to win ?
Is being good a fault/vice the champion has ? Is it such a bad thing ?
I think not.
The problem is our life's like that, as Agent Smith says in The Matrix "as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery". We cant accept a champion, he has to be always brought down by the underdog. And its not because we have any love for that particular underdog, its just we like the underdog in general. We cant stand somebody too good. We have to see him fall, let someone with flaws become the champion and then see even him lose.
The only reason for such a peculiar behavior, according to me, is because all our lives we have been the underdog and we want our moment of glory. So we identify more with the underdog than with a champion. Now, that's a really really sorry state to be in.
We always prefer NZ over Australia, Ivanisevic over Sampras, Greece over Portugal, Mercedes or BMW over Ferrari.
Don't hate dominance, Don't hate being good ... or even great, strive hard to become that. As Oscar Wilde once said " . . . there is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
