Seeker's thoughts ...

From Darkness to Light, Dependence to Freedom, Fear to Fearlessness ....

Why do we understand something is bad and still continue doing the same thing?

Is it because we are not able to just leave it OR is it because we have not really understood it is wrong OR is it because we have not really believed even if we have listened to what was said?

I believe it is definitely the third. It just means that we have not really believed that something is bad. How else can one explain the same thing being repeated over and over again?

If I know a certain attachment is bad and I cannot leave it behind then the truth is I have not really believed that the attachment is bad.
If I know I have to follow certain path and leave behind other paths to attain what I need to attain and I cannot do that then the simple truth is that I have not really believed that that certain path is the one for me and the rest are bad.

It is really as simple and direct as that however harsh that sounds.

If I understood fire is bad for me would I ever knowingly put my hand in fire. No. That is understanding! And similar clarity and belief is needed for those other things to materialize and seep into my life.
