Stir
Imagine there is a glass of water with dirt and other impurities in it. Over a period of time, without anything being done, the impurities and dirt settle and if someone doesn't notice the bottom where those things have settled it feels that the water is completely clean. 2 things which are complementary and very important at the same time:
1. Impurities have settled but they are still there.
2. Water appears clean but really isn't.
Stirring the water is a good check. If the impurities are still present they start showing up again so that they can be removed and the water can be made pure again.
Water - me/my thoughts/my conscience
Impurities - bad thoughts/baggage/past incidents
Stirring - being open to discussions/soul searching/thinking/re-evaluating/checking
Just like stirring helps clear the picture regarding the purity of water, in the same vein, discussing things/thinking things over stirs any out-of-sight thoughts/prejudices/beliefs that one might have and helps brings them to the surface and "clean" them if necessary.
Never shy away from "stirring". It always helps. If you are pure, it won't spoil anything. If not, it will show you the correct picture. It is like Agile methodology. An iterative process. Constant check and betterment.
