Selfish or selfless

A lot of times in eyes of the outside world it may seem that saints or sadhaks are selfish. Especially when they leave their family and friends behind to walk, run and fly on the road towards spiritual enlightenment.

IMHO, these souls are not selfish at all. Selfish by definition is a person who is more concerned about self than others. But these souls don't have any self or "I" left in them. How can a person who has no "I" remaining be termed selfish. All his acts are towards reaching selflessness and hence none of his acts can be selfish.

Friends, family, pretty much everything else exists in relation to that self or "I" and when that itself doesn't exist the very things which were the core of a person's existence like body, friends, family and wealth don't hold any significance any longer.

What a state to be in!
