When someone doesn't find happiness from one apple that person thinks there was something wrong with that apple. Let me try another one. Same story repeats. And he tries another one and then one after that and so on. There are apples abound so trying one after another uses up the whole lifetime without apples every getting over (life does gets over). He repeats the same thing all over again in the next lifetime and then the next. Same story repeats. Until one day he realises that he is trying to find happiness in/from the wrong thing. Apples are not something which can give him happiness.
Only one thing and one thing alone can give him happiness. All things, bar one, are like apples and trying to find happiness in/from them is just as futile.
Apples can be substituted with all the known things, bar one, in the world and they would fit the above description just fine. Only one thing stands out, provided one is looking for complete and everlasting happiness. Provided one is looking for that.
