Let go

Just remembered this very nice dialog from DCH … which Akshay Khanna tells a friend on a beach in Goa …

“Take this sand for instance, the tighter you try to hold it, the more it slips out of our hand.”

Just let go! It’s a brilliant feeling … because when you let something/someone/some thought go you are not just letting that other thing/person/thought go but more importantly freeing yourself!

After a period of time, however short or long it might be, that thing/person is going to be left behind (either you will move on or they will) so why not do it with understanding … letting go doesn't necessarily mean severing ties with a person or getting rid of a thing … all it means is I am freeing myself of the bond with that person/thing. It’s like exorcising a personal demon … nothing changes on the outside … except the most important thing, perspective.

A few quotes on the same topic:
“A leash is a piece of rope with noose at both ends” - Anonymous
“You don't need strength to let go of something. What you really need is understanding” – Guy Finley
“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be” – Lao-Tzu
